new year

Hey, there! It's been awhile. Enough time that I actually forgot my blog login credentials. But with this new year I thought I'd share some shots of my first weekend of 2015.

My body was a bit fried from the holidays, so CB and I decided to partake in what the Japanese call Shinrin-Yoku or "forest bathing."AKA nature time in my local mountains. Forest bathing is linked to increased cerebral blood flow, immune defense, and improved mental health, so I figured it was a good way to kick off the year. Here's hoping I can make nature time more of a habit in the coming months.

honeymoon - part III

On our last day in New York, we headed about 40 min north of the city to Tarrytown (AKA Sleepy Hollow) in the Hudson River Valley. Tarrytown is where Washington Irving, who wrote The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, is from. Didn't get a chance to see his home, but hear it's a cute little spot.

What we did see is the Rockefellers' summer home, Kykuit, which is perched on probably the highest point of the town. It has a breathtaking view of the valley that I tried my best to drink up fully.

Sleepy Hollow
Philipsburg Manor - a 17th century Dutch-style manor house, barn and gristmill.

honeymoon - part II

Some shots from our 3 days in Fire Island over 4th of July. So in love with that place. Would be fantastico to go back with some friends...heaven!
Lobster prep
Since there are no cars, everyone uses bikes & wagons for transporting people and things. :)
The main town on Fire Island, Ocean Beach, had a cute, down-home July 4th parade.
Fun homemade floats.
Walking around Point O'Woods
Sunset stroll

honeymoon - part I

Went to New York for our honeymoon and thought I'd share some snapshots. Here are some from our time in the city. :)
A Midsummer Night's Swing at Lincoln Center (exposed film...merp.)

Post-Murray's cheese spread lunch/reading/nap
Bryant Park
Singing at the piano bar with Rick. Any man that owns a Doris Day clothing collection is a friend of mine.

Heading to Fire Island soon! Can. Not. Wait. Sweet relaxation, here I come.

ol' man puggy

Received this text and accompanying picture today from CB who was out of town for a conference:
"Hotel pug. 1,000 years old."

Could not stop looking at this dude on my phone all day and giggling. I want to be him right now.

city in the spring

Hey there, Internetland! I've been pretty lame about updating the blog lately, but thought I'd throw some recent pictures up from my trip to NYC with some friends & family. :) Just some randoms from central and highline parks, union square & thereabouts. Oh, how I <3 New York.
